Windows are everywhere. Depending on where you are — your bedroom, your office, a hotel room, or a tiny tourism office overlooking a lively street in a beach town in the Dominican Republic, shown above — a window can reveal different things.

They are portals into the world’s stories. Glimpses into other people’s lives. Looking out (or into) a window can tell you about where you are — and where you’re not — and mark a particular moment in time, linking you to a physical place. Windows are also enablers of our daydreams and desires, and can stir up memories and big ideas.

Okay, my turn…Love this week’s photo challenge which should keep me occupied esta fin de semana. Strolling around SMA is an Artist Date every day for this new arrival!

To curb my random shopping/hunting and gathering tendencies  my plan is to see what kind of experiences I can have for 48 hours on 250. pesos/ about 20. CAD. My 48 hour challenge will be Sunday and Monday this week.

And I’ll take some pictures to upload from my camera but also it’s time to take my trusty Canon Sureshot out to play. My theme/concept is Window/Ventanas. As the foregoing posting by Daily Post alludes there are many ways to look at something as common as a window. Of course, from the viewpoint of this suburb refugee the windows here are anything BUT ordinary with the diversity of frames, window sills and black metal gratings!

I’ll start with my teeny tiny casita and work/walk the ‘hood! And yes I’ll include another perilous foray down this pedestrian only street that actually has handrails attached to the stone walls for part of the way! Talk about off,off the beaten track!

And I do It all for YOU, intrepid readers!

    1. I took a look and you have a very specialized photography blog. And in terms of windows, well, you would absolutely love it here in the colonial city of San Miquel de Allende. I’ll put it on my topic list to do a posting on the Windows/Ventanas of San Miquel de Allende! Thanks for taking the time to comment. Joanne Babiak

  1. Neat blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your design. Thanks gkdddccgcekf

  2. Hi there! I could have sworn I’ve been to this blog before but after checking through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Nonetheless, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be bookmarking and checking back frequently! ddbbabeeabka
